About the event
Join us for New Ulm-native, Susan Huehn, as she reads a passage from her recent book, A Widow's Guide to Becoming A Handyman. Tickets are $5, which turn into a coupon redeemable the day of the event. The event will include her reading, a Q&A, and a book signing opportunity.
Susan Huehn was born in a sleepy German town in south central Minnesota at the confluence of the Minnesota and Cottonwood Rivers. The town was home to her immigrant parents where she was raised speaking German and a love of German culture was imbedded in her at a cellular level. At a music festival in her hometown, she met a German singer and after a three year transatlantic relationship (before email, Facebook and WhatsApp!) Susan moved to Germany, where she lived for three years. They got married during those three years and then returned to live in Northfield, Minnesota on a small hobby farm.
Susan studied nursing at St. Olaf College where she currently chairs the nursing department. After completing her PhD in Education Susan ventured from academic writing to creative writing when she felt she had a story inside of herself that needed to be told.
In her spare time Susan loves to cook good food for those she loves, garden and sew aprons.
